It’s time to buy your girlfriend a birthday present again and you’re still recovering from that look of disgust she gave you when she opened the present you gave her last year. This year, you promised, will be different.

You want to tell her how particular she is to you, but you’ve already exhausted all your ‘great ideas’. The challenge of being a modern man who always knows what to buy for birthdays now just seems like an inconceivable ideal.

Your at your wit’s end attempting to figure out the idealisti gift and you may feel a sweat coming on just imagining those busy buying goods centres on Saturday, as your mates are all out playing golf …

Ok, breathe and relax. Your worries are almost over because by reading this article you are only a few minutes away from being armed with sufficient ideas to make sure you stay in her good books all year, plus you won’t have to go to any buying goods centres.

Let’s clarify a few basics: chocolates and flowers are a bit passé on their own. Although she might be glad you remembered, they don’t say much in regards to you and your personality and there is the risk that you might have given her the same gift on another occasion, which means the gift has some but minimal impact.

You want her to feel special, right? Then stay away from clichés and refrain from the last minute moment of madness of buying her flowers from the Petrol station. Give her something that will appeal to her interests, personality, likes, dislikes, hobbies, and passions.

One way to do this is to make a list. Think with regards to a lot of recent conversations with her and undertake to recall any hints she might have dropped.

Finding a perfective distinctive gift to fit people’s personalities isn’t always easy though you give yourself the best probability by using your time wisely and having a range of choices and one way you may do this is to take a peak at web sites that list fun and interesting gifts for her and have a range of ideas all under one roof.

Thankdarling.com offers a wide range of gifts just for her and by buying goods online you may keep away from the trauma of 5 hour buying goods trips, moody shop assistants and traffic jams. You may do everything from the ease of your own chair and search for her present online. You may do this by category or by ‘gift experiences’, and if you already recognise what you want to buy, you may do this by occasion, or plainly by selecting ‘for her’.

Remember you are looking to buy a gift for her, so try and keep away from getting distracted by all the latest boys toys for now. A day out paint balling and a radio-controlled helicopter might float your boat but as a gift for her? Probably a huge no-no.

So to recap, draw up a list of her interests. Then think with regards to what would suit her personality best. Is she artistic, adventurous, an animal lover, or a hopeless romantic? Once you have this sorted out you may choose from a potpourri of distinguishable gift experiences for your significant other.

4To everyone saying “It reads like Harlequin..”
By L. McCullough
Let me first start off by responding to rude prior reviewers who keep saying “This is only good if you like Harlequin…”

Um, Hello – this is published by one of Harlequin’s imprints.

Also to those who keep wondering about the supposedly inconsistent historical details – this is STEAMPUNK. It’s not supposed to follow actual historical detail. Steampunk is the Victorian era re-envisioned. If you don’t like alternate history, anachronistic technology and fantasy elements, you should not be reading this genre in the first place.

As to the story, it’s a nice blend of fantasy and romance. I enjoy modern heroines in a historical setting and Amy was a fun heroine. She was spunky without being over the top. Lord Kendall was a little boring to be the hero but that was really my only complaint.

I do agree that if the story was longer it would have been better. But this was a freebie and interesting enough to tempt me to try the follow-up which is a full-length novel.

3Rushed ending but an enjoyable tale
By Nicki J
I got this as a free ebook. I had seen a few reviews floating around for it and decided to give it a try.

On the whole, I enjoyed the novella. The characters were engaging and I liked the idea behind the story as it gradually built up. I am still fairly new to the world of Steampunk, but am enjoying it. I liked the way this book blended the steampunk romance with chivalry and an order of knights battling magical forces.

I am giving this three and not four stars because, for me, the ending felt a little sudden. There was this gradual build up as the mystery unfolded, but then once everything was exposed it was over in a heartbeat. I just would have liked a little more from the climax after the world and characters had been so well constructed earlier in the story.

4very good effort
By Ramona
I thought it was much too short to explore the world and characters the author created. As a tease to get us to pay for more, I’m impressed. If this is what we can expect from the author, but done with more character and story development sign me up. I found the premise charming and original. The sex scene in the middle was awkward so I mostly skipped it. Keep up the good work, I’ll be looking for the next story.
